Engine technologies whose application can reduce the impact of friction are surface coatings and the lubricants low-viscosity or with appropriate additives. As a contribution, we applied the eco-tribological knowledge during construction of IC engines and their spare parts. The result of the researches was patented prototype of the aluminum piston coated or modified with tribo-material in area of skirt. Modification of the piston was realized by inserting two removable pads (plates) of graphite. Another option is the piston with tribological pads of steel into which are inserted tribo inserts of graphite in the form of a sphere (nodules). The main task of the tribo-pads is to decrease friction between piston and cylinder, especially at engine-starting regime. This is confirmed during researches whose the results are presented inside of manuscript.

The European Union is increasingly dependent on imported fossil fuel. From the second side, oil products come from politically unstable regions, oil prices are rising and resources are limited. This complex situation leads to significant ecological and economical risks for society. The European Commission is seeking to solve these issues through a series of initiatives, including many that focus on the transport, which is almost fully dependent on oil. In this context, it has launched every time a calls for projects that focus on biofuels. Our research inside of the paper is redirected on the training to take action with similar projects. We are analyzed here the possibilities for production of biogas from landfill and agricultural crops.

Validation of thermodynamic characteristics of reciprocating compressors for motor vehicles is performed on a test bench that allows measuring pressure in the cylinder of compressor depending on the angular position of the compressor crankshaft. This paper presents the characteristics of the test bench and the results of measuring compressor\'s indicator diagram. The measurement results are compared with simulation results and results from measurements on similar compressors made by other authors. Good relation between the results of measurements and the results of simulation and literature data are achieved.

The noise that comes from the road traffic, along with other emitters of environmental noise has a largely negative impact on quality of life. In the Republic of Serbia as in communities everywhere in the world, the noise that comes from the road traffic has become an increasingly noticeable and serious problem which is especially pronounced in large industrialized cities. In the paper are presented the results of intensive noise level measurements in the city of Kragujevac obtained during the 24-h measurements at specific critical locations. The results of measurement are linked to the frequency of the city traffic, which indicates on the presence of certain categories of vehicles during the measurements. Regarding to the current situation, as a special contribution to reducing noise in road traffic, it is proposed solution in terms of replacement of the existing city buses with diesel engines, with original engines or vehicles on Compressed Natural Gas CNG, that produce less noise emission, are more economical and they have no emission of smoke and particles in the exhaust gases. This was confirmed with parallel tests of the buses with drive on diesel and CNG. The results obtained by measuring the noise of the vehicles according to the Regulation UN ECE 51R, are shown a significant noise reduction compared to the situation when used diesel buses.
